With the Brandon Sanderson book yesterday and some of the books today it’s hard not to notice that $2.99 seems to be attracting more established authors than indie authors.
Independent authors are still sticking to $0.99. Meanwhile, established authors feel that with a 70% cut they can get more at $2.99 than they were getting earlier at $4.99 or even at $6.99. It won’t be long before we have a flood of back-list titles at $2.99.
Think about it – You can keep your back list books in the attic doing nothing or sell 10,000 copies of each at a profit of $2 per copy. If your back list is 10 books that’s an easy $200,000.
